ASSISTANT/ASSOCIATE/FULL PROFESSOR
The Auburn University Harrison College of Pharmacy (HCOP) invites applications for a 12-month faculty position at the rank of Assistant/Associate/Full Professor (Tenure Track) or Clinical Professor (Non-Tenure Track) in the Department of Pharmacy Practice. Appointment as Associate or Full Professor/Clinical Professor requires experience commensurate with appointment to the Associate or Full Professor rank at a research-intensive university.

In addition to the main campus in Auburn, the college has a campus located in Mobile, Alabama, on the campus of the University of South Alabama.
HCOP offers an undergraduate drug and biopharmaceutical sciences degree, the Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree, as well as graduate programs in Pharmaceutical Sciences with concentrations in Medicinal Chemistry, Pharmaceutics, Pharmacology, and Health Outcomes Research and Policy. PharmD students can enroll in several dual degree programs including the PharmD/MBA and PharmD/MPH degrees. There are typically between 550-600 students in the PharmD program and approximately 60 graduate students at any given time.

HCOP is focused on advancing patient care through translational research and development of transformative pharmacy practice models. We are seeking a faculty member with relevant training or experience in community pharmacy transformation who will collaborate within the college, across the university, and with partners in the community. The candidate selected for this position will contribute to the advancement of community pharmacy practice in Alabama by strengthening our community presence and by conducting meaningful research that positively impacts patients and practice.
The Department of Pharmacy Practice is committed to the success of all HCOP academic programs. Faculty members support the overall mission of our College by ensuring that HCOP Doctor of Pharmacy students graduate from the professional program as fully capable clinicians, prepared to deliver high-quality care and enhance the health and well-being of their patients. Teaching opportunities are available in Undergraduate, Doctor of Pharmacy, Graduate, and Residency programs. Faculty members in the Department of Pharmacy Practice provide outreach through the provision of patient care, as well as professional service. Additionally, the department is committed to conducting impactful research that advances the scientific community and pharmacy practice. The purpose of this position is to contribute across all mission areas while serving as a leader in advancing community pharmacy practice.
Successful candidates are expected to:
- Develop and maintain a model community practice consistent with national community pharmacy advancement and transformation goals
- Serve in a leadership role in statewide efforts to implement community-based pharmacy practice models that improve medication use and health outcomes
- Contribute to interprofessional practice, education, and research efforts related to community pharmacy practice transformation
- Actively participate in the teaching mission of the Harrison College of Pharmacy at the undergraduate, professional (PharmD), and graduate (Residency, MS, PhD) levels, as needed
- Contribute to both clinical research and service in alignment with departmental Outreach and Research goals
- Mentor undergraduate, professional (PharmD) and graduate (Residency, MS, PhD) students, as needed
- Develop and/or maintain an extramurally funded research program from public and/or private sources, as appropriate
- Demonstrate a high level of scholarly activity as evidenced by quality publications in peer-reviewed scientific journals and active participation in professional societies
Applicants must hold a Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree and must have successfully completed a postgraduate PGY-1 community pharmacy or general pharmacy residency at the time employment begins. Additional consideration will be given to candidates who have completed a PGY-2 residency in ambulatory care or another applicable field of training that aligns with position responsibilities; completed a pharmacy fellowship; or is board-certified (BCPS: Board-Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist, BCACP: Board-Certified Ambulatory Care Pharmacist, BCOP: Board-Certified Oncology Pharmacist, BCPP: Board-Certified Psychiatric Pharmacist, etc.). The candidate must have relevant training or experience in community pharmacy practice transformation or have demonstrated leadership in programs that advance pharmacy practice or research. The successful candidate must hold an active Alabama license in good standing or must be eligible to obtain an Alabama pharmacy license (within 3 months of hire), which is required for this position. Excellent communication skills are required.
