| Job Summary | The Department of Sociology in the College of Arts & Sciences at the University of Kentucky in Lexington, KY seeks to fill a tenure-eligible faculty position at the Assistant or Associate Professor level with expertise in the field of Criminology. This is a 9-month position in the regular title series with an anticipated start date of August 1, 2026. The first year Distribution of Effort will be 45% Teaching, 45% Research, and 10% Departmental service. This successful candidate will teach courses at the graduate and undergraduate levels across the sociology curriculum, including general sociology and criminology courses. We encourage candidates whose research and teaching will add to existing departmental strengths and needs to apply (see www.soc.as.uky.edu). A PhD in Sociology or a related field is required. Candidates should have a Ph.D. by August 1, 2026. Applicants must include the following: 1) Cover Letter 2) CV, 3) Research Statement (upload as Specific Request 1), 4) Teaching Statement (upload as Specific Request 2), and 5) Sample of Research (upload as Specific Request 3). In addition, please provide the names and contact information of three references when prompted in the academic profile. This information may be utilized to solicit recommendation letters from your references within the employment system. The research statement should outline the focus areas of the applicant's research program, demonstrated through publications and/or extramural funding, or evidence of potential to secure such funding. It should also articulate specific research plans and goals. The teaching statement should present the applicant's teaching philosophy and pedagogical approaches and identify specific courses the applicant has taught or is prepared to teach.
