- Assistant Professor of Clinical Optometry
Description
The New England College of Optometry (NECO) invites applications to join the professional staff as an attending pediatric optometrist and clinical faculty member. We are seeking a non-tenure, clinical track faculty optometrist who has a keen interest in providing clinical care at the Martha Eliot Health Center and the Charles River Health Center, combined with laboratory teaching and/or vision screenings for a full-time faculty position. Join a dedicated and fun team at both Martha Eliot and Charles River Health in providing eye care for those who are less resourced in the greater Boston area.
The starting salary for this position is $110,000.
This person should have a desire to teach tomorrow’s optometrists the principles of optometric and interdisciplinary care.
Our mission is to improve the vision and eye health of populations through excellence in collaborative and community-oriented patient care, service, education, and research. A NECO optometrist is an exceptionally qualified doctor of optometry and clinician-educator who works in a dynamic team-oriented, multidisciplinary non-profit eye care network serving the vision and eye health needs of populations in greater Boston. Clinical attending optometrists are also faculty members that have teaching appointments with NECO, and thus advance both the service and teaching missions of the institution.
Requirements
Qualifications include an OD degree with TPA+ licensure (glaucoma and anti-infective privileges) in Massachusetts, advanced professional credentials such as residency training or equivalent clinical experience, appropriate credentials for a faculty appointment, and an active commitment to excellence in patient care and teaching.
In addition, a pediatric residency from an accredited institution is required.
Experience serving a diverse patient base and language skills other than English are preferred, but not required.
