- Assistant Professor of Computer Science
Description
Applications are invited for a tenure-track position in Computer Science at the Assistant Professor level with an anticipated contract start date of August 17th, 2026. We are seeking candidates with a strong commitment to high-quality undergraduate computer science teaching, in alignment with UW-Stout’s polytechnic tenets of applied learning and research, business and industry partnerships, and career focused education. Our institution boasts nationally ranked, ABET-accredited programs that encompass a diverse range of specialized areas within Computer Science, including Software Engineering, Game Design and Development, Cybersecurity, Web Development, and Machine Learning/Data Science.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Teach all levels of undergraduate courses and possibly master’s level courses in computer science. Participate in curriculum development, research, and scholarly activity. Participate in department and university service activities. Provide student academic advisement and conduct assessment of student learning. This includes contributing to academic program assessment, accreditation, and continuous improvement processes, in collaboration with faculty and staff. Other duties as assigned by the department chair.
Requirements
Minimum/Required
- PhD (or equivalent) in computer science, software engineering, or a related field by the contract start date.
- Commitment to teaching undergraduate computer science courses.
- Evidence of teaching ability.
Highly Desired/Preferred
- Demonstrated ability to teach at least one of the following:
- Foundational Computer Science courses
- Software engineering courses
- Web and network programming courses
- Operating systems courses
- Interest in involving undergraduate students in research.
- Demonstrated success working with diverse student populations.
- Demonstrated experience in establishing a climate (learning and work environment) that embraces inclusion.
