APPOINTMENT: Tenure-track appointment beginning August 20, 2026
RESPONSIBILITIES: Assistant Professor in the Department of Earth, Atmospheric, and Geographic Information Sciences with specialization in Geographic Information Science and Remote Sensing. The successful candidate will: (1) teach undergraduate and graduate students; (2) conduct research/scholarly activities and publications; (3) direct students in graduate and undergraduate research; (4) engage in service to the University and the community; (5) willing to partner with the GIS Center.
RANK & SALARY: Assistant Professor, tenure-track. 9-month appointment; $7,242 per month.

Requirements
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Earned doctorate in Geographic Information Science, Geography or related fields by appointment start date. ABD will be considered, but the degree must be completed by date of appointment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience in implementation of innovative teaching practices, including using technology to enhance educational environments.
Demonstrated excellence in teaching undergraduate and graduate courses.
Evidence of creative and innovative contributions to GIS.
Experience with remotely sensed GIS data.
Experience with different instructional methodologies (e.g., face-to-face lecture, live-stream, online instruction, distance learning, and hybrid modes).
Oral and written proficiency in the English language.
For a degree to be considered, it must be conferred from a regionally accredited degree-granting institution of higher education (or equivalent from an international accrediting body). Unless otherwise stated, the degree must be conferred at the time of appointment.
