Duties
The Department of Special Education at the State University of New York at New Paltz invites applications for an Assistant Professor faculty position to begin Fall 2026. This is a full-time tenure track position requiring specialization in teaching students with disabilities. The successful candidate will be expected to teach courses in our Teaching Students with Disabilities (All Grades) teacher preparation program (e.g., inclusive education, instructional assessment, behavior management, differentiated instruction, and literacy), supervise field experiences, engage in research and other scholarly activities, advise students, and provide service to the school, university, and community.

Qualifications
Required:
The successful candidate must:
Hold a doctorate in Special Education or related field by August 2026 (ABD with a firm completion date may be considered)
Have an established (or developing) record of teaching, research, and scholarly achievements
Have a minimum of 5 years professional/teaching experience with students with disabilities
Preferred Qualifications:
Strong research and teaching skills related to inclusive instruction, evidence-based practices for students with disabilities, culturally sustaining pedagogy, Disability Studies in Education (DSE), or Neurodiversity affirming practices.
At least three years of prior experience as a credentialed Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) with experience supervising aspiring behavior analysts.
Professional experience with historically marginalized communities or urban schools is desired.
