Description
Position Description:
- Supervises and teaches residents and medical students in classroom and clinical settings
- Provides patient care in the inpatient and outpatient settings affiliated with a Level 1 Trauma Center
- Engages in advancement of scientific knowledge through research and/or scholarship
- Serves the academic community through participation in institutional governance, such as committee work and other administrative duties
- Contributes to the community through academically-related public service complementary to the institutional mission
- Maintains current board certification; or actively works towards fulfilling the eligibility criteria to qualify for board certification through the ABOS Academic
- Pathway, including achievement of academic promotion to the rank of associate professor and excellence in clinical care, research and teaching
- Ensures compliance with HIPAA and billing regulations
- Adheres to institutional and departmental policies and procedures.
- Demonstrates professionalism in accordance with the Paul L. Foster School of Medicine’s Declaration of Faculty Professional Responsibility
- Upholds and promotes the value-based culture of TTUHSC El Paso

Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
- M.D. or D.O. degree
- One of the following:
A) Successful completion of an Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) -accredited Orthopaedic Surgery Residency Program, or
B) For academic orthopaedic surgeons who have received graduate medical education outside the United States or Canada, completion of an Orthopaedic Surgery Residency Program with documentation of having successfully passed the applicable certification examination in the candidate’s country of education and prior practice.
- Successful completion of an ACGME or Orthopaedic Trauma Association (OTA) accredited Orthopaedic Trauma Fellowship Program
- Texas medical license, or eligibility for medical licensure in Texas
Preferred Qualifications:
Board certification in Orthopaedic Surgery by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery
Bilingual English/Spanish
Emerging or established regional or national reputation for the rank of Associate Professor or higher
