The Bob L. Herd Department of Petroleum Engineering at Texas Tech University has an immediate opening tenure-track Assistant Professor.

The successful candidate in position 28606BR will be expected to teach graduate and undergraduate courses in Production and manage related laboratories (facilities, artificial lift, completions, stimulation and workovers). The candidate should have earned a doctorate in petroleum engineering or closely related field by August, 2022.  Prior experience as a lecturer, teaching assistant, or grader in graduate or undergraduate courses in Production Engineering is required.  A mandatory minimum of 5 years of experience in the upstream oil and gas industry, including field experience, is required. Industry experience should include:  decline curve analysis; project economic evaluation; design, optimization, and deployment of artificial lift systems such as gas lift, ESP, sucker rod and plunger lift; facility engineering including designing tank batteries, pumps, flowlines, and pressure relief valves; workover and completions experience including well servicing operations, hydraulic fracturing and acidizing. Applicants with knowledge of research into effective STEM teaching practices and research experience in fiber optic sensing and hydraulic fracturing are especially encouraged to apply. Research with National Energy Technology Laboratory and Department of Energy is a plus.  The ability to generate research funding and advising master's and Ph.D. will be a plus.  This position is for tenure track at the level of assistant professor.

 Duties include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, advising and mentoring students, supervising graduate student research, developing sponsored research projects, and actively participating in departmental, university and professional service activities. New faculty are expected to be engaged in scholarship or creative activity that attracts outside funding in the form of fellowships, grants, exhibits, etc.  Service duties include program-building, as well as commitment to extra-curricular activities. Service to the department, college, university, and community is expected.
