The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Nebraska Medical Center invites applications from exceptional scholars for a tenure leading faculty position at the level of Associate Professor or Professor. We seek candidates with active research programs applying innovative multidisciplinary approaches to the study of Women’s Reproductive Health including Gynecologic Oncology, Uterine Disorders, and Developmental Biology. We encourage applications from faculty candidates whose research is translational and has high potential for collaborative initiatives with clinicians and other researchers across the University.
The department is undergoing a transformation that includes emphasis on clinical and translational research. The Olson Center for Women’s Health Research Program has been active for nearly 30 years and has an established core of reproductive scientists. The University of Nebraska Medical Center has a wide selection of core facilities, centers and institutes (https://www.unmc.edu/vcr/about/centers), including the Fred & Pamela Buffett Cancer Center, Nebraska Center for Women’s Health Research (NCWHR), and the Child Health Research Institute (CHRI). UNMC has close ties with research programs at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and the VA Nebraska-Western Iowa Health Care system.
The UNMC Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology comprises more than 40 fulltime faculty members across a broad range of clinical and scientific disciplines. The department supports a vibrant and rapidly expanding research enterprise that spans basic, translational, clinical, and population health science. Our investigators collaborate across UNMC and with national and international partners to advance discovery, improve reproductive health outcomes, and bring evidence-based innovations into clinical care. Our academic and clinical sections include: General Obstetrics and Gynecology, Gynecologic Oncology, Maternal–Fetal Medicine, Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery, Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology, Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility, Urogynecology and Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery, Certified-Nurse Midwifery, Basic/Translational Research, Clinical Research. Across these areas, our faculty lead and contribute to research initiatives focused on maternal health, reproductive biology, gynecologic conditions, surgical innovation, fertility and endocrine disorders, and health outcomes throughout the lifespan. Our departmental infrastructure, including clinical research support, laboratory-based investigation, and interdisciplinary collaboration, enables our teams to pursue high-impact studies that translate scientific discoveries into improved patient care. Requirements
Candidates should have a PhD, MD, or MD/PhD degree; postdoctoral experience; a solid publication record; and a history of externally funded independent research. Candidates will be expected to contribute to the Department’s teaching mission and to mentor graduate students and clinical fellows.
