About the College/Unit/Department
As the 4th largest public college of education in the country and the 3rd largest college at UGA , the Mary Frances Early College of Education ( MFE COE ) improves the lives of residents of Georgia and beyond through our instruction, research, and service. The MFE COE is a comprehensive college with disciplines focused on teacher preparation, counseling and human development, communication sciences, human movement sciences, career development, student affairs, and educational administration and policy. We place significant emphasis on graduate education with approximately 40% of our students at the graduate level, making us the second largest college at UGA with respect to graduate education.
The Department of Communication Sciences and Special Education seeks to improve the world around us through instruction, research, outreach, and service in speech-language pathology, audiology, American Sign Language, special education, applied behavior analysis, and related areas. The Department's Speech and Hearing Clinic, founded in 1953, is the largest academically-associated clinic at UGA and provides a full range of speech, language, voice, dysphagia, hearing assessment, hearing aid, and aural (re)habilitation services to Athens and surrounding communities. Position Summary
The Department of Communication Sciences and Special Education at the University of Georgia invites applications for the position of Clinical Assistant Professor with expertise in Audiology. In collaboration with the Audiology Clinic Coordinator and the Clinic Director, this individual will lead the adult rehabilitation clinical program with a heavy emphasis on cochlear implant service delivery. This individual will serve as the Coordinator of the Audiology Clinic in the UGA Speech and Hearing Clinic.
Responsibilities will include the following, as well as other duties as assigned:
- Provide direct clinical services and evidence-based management in the evaluation and (re)habilitation of hearing disorders for a caseload of patients representing a range of ages, backgrounds, and communication needs
- Instruct and supervise students in clinical practica in the on-campus clinic and off-campus community screenings
- Teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses (face-to-face, online, and/or blended) and mentor and advise students, as assigned
- Engage in departmental, college, university, and professional service
- Comply with university, regulatory, and accreditation agency standards
This is a full-time clinical faculty position to begin as early as June 1, 2026. This position is contingent on funding availability.
Additional Requirements
- Current Certificate of Clinical Competence in Audiology ( CCC -A) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association
- Current Georgia license in Audiology or evidence that the candidate is license-eligible by the proposed start date
- At least 1 year of experience in cochlear implant service delivery
Relevant/Preferred Education, Experience, Licensure, and/or Certification
- At least 5 years of clinical experience in audiology
- At least 2 years of experience in clinical supervision of audiology students or speech-language pathology students
- At least 3 years of experience in cochlear implant service delivery
