Monroe Community College seeks an experienced academic leader for the Dean of Liberal Arts and Professional Studies. The successful candidate will possess a successful academic and administrative background and demonstrated ability to excel in a fast-paced, dynamic and complex community college that values educational access, academic integrity and excellence, inclusiveness, collaboration and stewardship. Monroe Community College (MCC) is entering its sixth decade as a premier two-year college within the State University of New York (SUNY) system. Ranked among the top 3% of U.S. community colleges for most associate degrees awarded, innovation has always been at the heart of MCC and the constant driver in the College’s evolution to meet the ever-changing needs of its students and the Rochester community. MCC is governed by a 10-member, government-appointed board of trustees, an administrative team led by President Dr. DeAnna Burt-Nanna, and our shared governance partners. Under her leadership, MCC has embarked on "Vision2027," a five-year strategic plan to enhance the College's relevance and address evolving challenges.
Reporting to the Provost/Vice President of Academic & Student Affairs (ASA), Dr. Michael Jacobs, the Dean has general responsibility for the quality of courses, programs, activities, faculty, staff, and resources of the departments within the Schools of Arts & Humanities, Business & Entrepreneurial Studies, Community Engagement & Development, and Social Sciences & Global Studies.
Examples of Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide collaborative, team-based leadership by addressing departmental, school, divisional, and institutional concerns through regular meetings with faculty, staff, chairpersons, ASALC members, the Provost/Vice President ASA, and other College stakeholders, fostering a culture of equity, inclusion, and professional growth to support teaching, learning, and student success.
- Provide leadership and oversight for departmental plans relating to academic programs, curriculum, master schedule, and learning environments to ensure institutional effectiveness and efficiencies that maximize resources; balance competing demands; respond to students’ needs; and meet all state, SUNY, and accreditation requirements and compliance frameworks.
- Collaborate across divisions to develop and implement strategies that attract prospective students and enhance access to programs, ensuring alignment with institutional enrollment goals.
- Develop and implement strategies for resource management and the optimal use of personnel, facilities, and technology to support student success and operational efficiency.
