Description
Monmouth College seeks a tenure-track engineering faculty – and potential program leaders – to help grow our exciting and newly ABET-accredited engineering program. All engineering and related disciplines are welcome, but expertise in mechanical, electrical, or computer engineering is particularly interesting, as is interest in developing quantum, advanced manufacturing, and energy emphases. We particularly encourage those seeking leadership opportunities to apply.
A liberal arts college located in West Central Illinois with a long and rich history of educating undergraduates, Monmouth College seeks colleagues who wish to educate engineers broadly, producing engineering graduates who are outstanding technical problem-solvers, who understand culture and context, and who can communicate their ideas clearly.
Our new colleagues, members of our School of Engineering, Science and Innovation, will work closely with other members in the school (CS, Data Science, Math, Physics) and across the college to continue to strengthen our existing emphases in mechanical and electrical engineering. We expect that they will also help us develop new emphases, such as quantum engineering, advanced manufacturing, energy, and/or others. We therefore seek engineers who are creative and thrive in working across disciplinary boundaries. Our colleagues will be deeply interested in teaching and in mentoring undergraduates (especially in project-based learning). They will be excited to build new and cross-disciplinary programs that will educate students to be dynamic problem-solvers, creative engineers, and lifelong learners who are hungry for new ideas. This is an excellent opportunity for professors to help shape and generate new and innovative programs and explore new venues. Our new colleagues will continue to develop professionally in ways that are personally satisfying and that support undergraduate students. We are looking for individuals who desire to make a positive impact on engineering through innovation in engineering education with a team of great people at Monmouth.
In addition to those with leadership potential, post-doctoral and/or teaching experience is a plus, as is industry/commercial experience. Rank negotiable. Candidates of all levels of experience are encouraged to apply. Limited startup funds available. Position start date is August 2026, though earlier start possible. Salary range: $70-$95,000 based on rank and experience, with additional stipend possible program leadership.
Review of applications will begin immediately and proceed until the position is filled. To apply please send by email a cover letter, curriculum vitae, a statement of teaching philosophy, a statement of research/professional development interests, and a list of three references to Deena McLaughlin, Assistant Director of Human Resources, at dmclaughlin@monmouthcollege.edu.
