DescriptionThe Department of Criminal Justice Studies at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE) is looking to fill a position at the Assistant Professor level starting August 2026. The specialization for this position is open. The teaching load for this position is three courses per semester, and courses may include undergraduate and graduate courses in traditional, hybrid and online formats. Faculty also participate in undergraduate student mentorship and in the supervision of master's capstone experiences. The successful candidate is expected to conduct and disseminate research in criminal justice studies or related disciplines and to contribute to the department, college, and university through appropriate service activities.
Established in 1957 SIUE is a public university with around 13,000 studetns and is categorized by Carnegie as a Doctoral Professional institution with bachelor's through professional doctoral degree programs. The Department of Criminal Justice is a collegial department within the College of Arts & Sciences with eight full-time faculty, about 300 traditional and online undergraduate students, and approximately 25 online graduate students. Located in Edwardsville, Illinois, the convenient location offers a small-town feel with big-city access. Qualifications
A Ph.D. in Criminology, Criminal Justice, or a closely related discipline from an accredited university is required at the time of appointment. ABD candidates may be considered. A JD is not sufficient.
