Description
The Department of Cell Biology at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine seeks candidates for a full-time faculty position at the rank of Research Assistant Professor (non-tenure stream) in the field of physiology and biophysics with the capacity to perform electrophysiological research (patch-clamp and Ussing chamber studies) on BKCa, KCa3.1, and SLACK channels. These studies will be carried out in heterologous systems as well as primary human bronchial epithelial cells (HBEs), rat brain hippocampal and cortical neurons, and mesenteric arteries from mice. The candidate will have a strong record of research accomplishments in the area of potassium channel biology, in addition to transepithelial ion transport. Successful candidates will join an interactive, interdisciplinary group of faculty, students, and fellows, and enjoy access to the state-of-the-art equipment and facilities at the University of Pittsburgh. Candidates must hold a Ph.D. in the field of physiology and biophysics or an equivalent degree.
