The newly launched School of Climate, Environment, and Society at Clark University invites applications for a full-time Associate or Full Professor to serve as the inaugural Klorman Professor of Climate, Economics & Society. We are seeking an academic leader in climate economics and particularly welcome candidates with expertise in climate finance and energy transitions to enhance and leverage the university's strengths in these areas. This endowed position is expected to maintain a high-impact research portfolio and contribute to the school's vibrant graduate and undergraduate programs.
With the launch of the School of Climate, Environment, and Society, this professorship is one of a cluster of newly endowed, school-wide positions designed to foster cross-departmental collaboration and partnerships that deliver real-world impact. The school is home to three academic departments (Economics, Geography, Sustainability and Social Justice), two research institutes (George Perkins Marsh Institute and Center for Geospatial Analytics), and additional affiliated faculty from Biology and other university departments. Significantly, the Department of Economics has chosen to become one of the school's founding departments, acknowledging climate and global change as the defining challenge of our time. The school supports two Ph.D. programs (Economics and Geography), five master's programs, and five undergraduate majors.
Job Requirements:
The ideal candidate for this position will provide evidence of an outstanding publication record, external research funding, and teaching excellence. We welcome applicants with traditional academic careers as well as those with distinguished experience in non-academic policy or applied research settings. Preference will be given to those with a history of cross-disciplinary collaborations, relationships with non-academic decision makers, and external research impacts. Candidates with outstanding promise but without the qualifications for tenure-upon-hire may be considered for a pre-tenure appointment. A Ph.D. in economics or related field is required.
Additional Information:
Expected Hiring Range: $150,000 to $200,000

The compensation for this position will be determined based on factors that include available budget, internal equity, and the selected candidate's qualifications, experience, education, and other job-related credentials. This range represents Clark University's good-faith estimate of the expected hiring range at the time of posting consistent with Clark's compensation philosophy and internal alignment.
