Description
The Department of Chemistry at the University of Virginia, Charlottesville, VA, invites applications for a non-tenure-track Assistant Professor, General Faculty (teaching track) position to begin in the 2026-2027 academic year. The primary responsibilities will involve teaching large lecture and/or lab courses in biochemistry, with additional possible assignments teaching introductory lecture and/or lab courses.
Knowledge of how students learn and experience with effective teaching practices and assessment is expected. The successful candidate will teach three courses per semester or their equivalent. Start date for the position is August 2026.
Compensation will be commensurate with experience and includes full-time salary with full-time benefits. The term of this appointment will be for three academic years with the possibility but not the guarantee of renewal. Qualifications
A Ph.D. in Chemistry or related field is required by appointment start date. A commitment to teaching excellence is expected.
