Research Assistant Professor Position
Department of Pharmacology and Chemical Biology
University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine
A Research Assistant Professor position in the Department of Pharmacology and Chemical Biology at the University of Pittsburgh is immediately available in the laboratory of Dr. Adam Straub. Research in the Straub laboratory centers on endothelial redox biology and vascular remodeling. The position will investigate how cytochrome b5 reductase 4 (CYB5R4) sustains nucleotide balance to support endothelial proliferation and ischemia-induced angiogenesis, and how these mechanisms influence atherosclerosis and inflammation. Approaches include mechanistic studies in cultured endothelial cells and mouse models, integrated multi-omics (e.g., bulk and single-cell RNA sequencing, metabolomics, proteomics), quantitative imaging and causal inference, and targeted gene-delivery/rescue strategies. The long-term goal is to translate redox-metabolic mechanisms into therapeutic strategies for vascular disease. The incumbent will be encouraged to apply for grants and develop an emerging, complementary research program.
Candidates should have 5+ years of postdoctoral research experience, a strong publication record, and demonstrated expertise in endothelial/vascular biology and redox or metabolic signaling, including experience with in vitro and in vivo models, intermediate to advance programming/bioinformatics skills, along with excellent written and oral communication skills. Salary is commensurate with experience. To apply for the position, qualified candidates with a PhD in biochemistry, genetics, cell biology, or a related discipline are invited to complete an application in Talent Center at https://www.join.pitt.edu/#25006051.
