Position SummaryIndiana University School of Medicine ( IUSM ) is seeking a visionary and inspirational leader to serve in the dual role of Senior Associate Dean for Medical Student Education for the nine-campus MD program and Center Director for the IUSM -Indianapolis campus. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in enhancing the statewide educational experience, fostering innovation, and promoting a positive work environment for students, staff, and faculty. In this role, the leader will be part of the senior leadership team for IUSM Educational Affairs and the Regional Campus System, advocating for IUSM's mission, goals, and values.
As the Senior Associate Dean for Medical Student Education and Associate Dean and Director, IUSM -Indianapolis, the successful candidate will provide leadership to ensure a top-tier medical student experience from orientation to graduation. The position will also maintain, advance, and expand statewide educational programs by overseeing the curriculum and co-curricular experiences to meet or exceed LCME accreditation requirements. In this role, the Senior Associate Dean will act as a primary leader and resource for the LCME CQI /accreditation process while also ensuring the success of the evaluation system used to assess the effectiveness of the curriculum and student support services.
The successful candidate will also collaborate with other Educational Affairs and school leadership as well as statewide healthcare systems to align workflows and coordinate educational system improvements for learners and faculty across the state. Furthermore, they will lead efforts to establish closer links between IUSM and the IU Interprofessional Practice and Education Center. The responsibilities will also include monitoring access to mentoring programs for the statewide faculty and ensuring compliance with IU policies and financial stewardship. Finally, the selected candidate will participate as a clinical preceptor in relevant courses and clerkships, collaborate with teaching faculty to promote best practices, and advocate for a non-punitive environment free from intimidation and mistreatment by serving on the IUSM Mistreatment Reporting Triage Team.
The successful candidate will be a collaborative leader with a strong background in academic medicine, excellent leadership skills, and a commitment to promoting innovation, pursuit of research opportunities, educational scholarship, and a positive work environment. The candidate will have experience in curriculum development, faculty mentoring, and community engagement. A doctorate or terminal degree is required, with minimum qualifications including an MD, DO, or equivalent. Academic appointment type is clinical, and rank will be determined based on academic credentials.
