The Department of Theatre Arts at the University of Pittsburgh invites applications for a scholar at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor of Theatre Arts beginning in Fall 2026, pending budgetary approval.

The successful candidate will demonstrate significant expertise in the areas of disability and/or queer theatre and performance. Applicants who also have expertise in African, Latin American, SWANA, or Indigenous theatre and performance, including diasporic practices, are preferred. Duties of the position include teaching multi-level undergraduate courses in world theatre history, performance studies, and their areas of interest; mentoring and advising undergraduates in research and practice; instructing graduate level seminars in their area of expertise; mentoring graduate students in their research, teaching, practice, and professionalization; directing theses and dissertations; supporting the production work of the department in accordance with the candidate's areas of expertise; and active participation in the governance of the department.

Qualifications: The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. completed by the date of hire and will demonstrate evidence of a research plan, teaching excellence, artistic practice, and an active profile in the field.
