Description
MIDDLEBURY COLLEGE, MIDDLEBURY, VT 05753. The Department of Sociology invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professorship beginning Fall 2026. The successful candidate will teach the department's required research methods course as well as teach introductory, intermediate and advanced courses in their specialty. Research and teaching fields are open but we are especially interested in candidates with a focus in Environmental Sociology, Rural Sociology or Crime, Law & Deviance. As part of a full teaching load, the candidate will also regularly contribute to Middlebury's First-Year Seminar Program and Winter Term course offerings. All faculty at Middlebury are also expected to contribute to service to the College including, but not limited to, committee membership and serving as Director or Chair of a Program or Department when asked. Applicants are expected to have their Ph.D. in Sociology by June 30, 2026.
