Description
The Department of Computer Science at the American University of Beirut invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor, beginning August 15, 2026. Candidates are expected to contribute to the department’s teaching, research, and service missions.
Applicants should demonstrate strong potential for excellence in research and a commitment to high-quality teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.
The successful candidate will be expected to:
- Teach core and elective courses in Computer Science.
- Supervise undergraduate and graduate student research.
- Develop and sustain a strong research program with external funding.
- Contribute to departmental, university, and professional service.

We seek candidates whose expertise complements and strengthens the department’s curriculum and research profile. Priority areas include (but are not limited to):
- Artificial Intelligence and Data Science
- Software Engineering
- Cybersecurity and Privacy
- High Performance Computing
- Computer Graphics and Gaming
- Theoretical Computer Science
Outstanding candidates in other areas of Computer Science will also be considered.
Qualifications:
- A Ph.D. in Computer Science or a closely related field (at the time of appointment).
- Evidence of excellence in research and publication.
- Evidence of or potential for teaching excellence.
- Ability to contribute to departmental priorities in both undergraduate and graduate education.
