Description
The College of Fine Arts and the School of Art + Design at Ohio University invite applications for a full-time, 9-month, one-year appointment Visiting Professor position to teach, design, and implement all levels of undergraduate interior architecture studio and lecture courses for the rapidly growing Interior Architecture program. This job may be renewable up to three years. An individual is sought with a strong interest understanding and teaching capacity to effectively transmit knowledge to students:
Introduction to the field
Basic through advanced instruction in REVIT & other CAD methodologies
Construction documents
Planning for and achieving conceptual grasp and skills of building systems— structural, plumbing, HVAC and waste streams
Scholarly research methodologies their practice and dissemination
Ability to oversee comprehensive student BFA thesis work.
The successful candidate(s) also should have an interest in interdisciplinary engagement with other disciplines across the School of Art + Design and the College of Fine Arts areas across the university, such as programs within Visual Communications, Engineering, Health Sciences, and Business.
Requirements
Professional Interior design experience and an advanced degree (PH.D., M.F.A., or MID, or M. Arch. or equivalent) in Interior Design or a related discipline with at least one degree in interior design.
Current or past involvement in design practice and/or university teaching.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with curriculum design and/or program development in Interior Architecture or related programs (both F2F and online)
Proficiency with Interior Architecture Program marketing and recruitment
Experience teaching evidence-based design in the studio environment
In-person university teaching experience (also online university teaching experience is desirable)
Proficiency in CAD/Revit
Willingness to maintain and update fluency in the use of CAD
Proficiency in Revit or wiliness to develop proficiency with training
Involvement in interdisciplinary/community initiatives
Familiarity with CIDA accreditation process and guidelines
LEED GA or LEED AP
NCIDQ certification or NCIDQ eligibility
