Department Chair and Assistant Professor Positions in Chemical Engineering
The Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering (ChBE) at Vanderbilt University invites applications for two open faculty positions: the first at the level of Chair and Professor, and the second at the Assistant Professor level. Department Chair and Professor. This position seeks an accomplished visionary leader dedicated to overseeing a department committed to impactful research and innovative educational programs. A strong record in research, education, mentorship, and service is required. The next Chair is expected to direct ChBE during a time of historic growth and expansion for both ChBE and the School of Engineering at Vanderbilt. This search is open to all areas; however, candidates with research interests applied to areas of energy storage and conversion, catalysis and separations, electrochemical engineering, advanced materials, and manufacturing are of particular interest. Assistant Professor. The Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering (ChBE) at Vanderbilt University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position from candidates with expertise in artificial intelligence/machine learning (AI/ML), foundation models, multiscale modeling, and optimization as applied to challenges in energy and advanced chemical processing. We particularly encourage applicants whose computational research addresses critical materials for energy, data-driven approaches for manufacturing, electrochemical engineering, and the integration of AI/ML with chemical engineering to accelerate the design, discovery, and deployment of next-generation materials and technologies. Requirements. All candidates must hold a Ph.D. degree in chemical engineering or a closely related engineering or scientific discipline and have research and teaching goals strongly aligned with the fields of chemical and biomolecular engineering.

Our department is consistently ranked as one of the top five chemical engineering departments in the U.S. with fifteen or fewer faculty.
Our department is located a short walk from Vanderbilt's other engineering and science departments and is adjacent to the Vanderbilt Institute for Nanoscale Science and Engineering (VINSE), a nucleus for nanoscale materials research at Vanderbilt.
