Assistant or Associate Professor - Career Track 
Occupational Therapy Doctorate Division – Duke University 
Full-time, 12-month

The Duke University Occupational Therapy Doctorate (OTD) Division seeks a faculty colleague to join an innovative and evolving doctoral program committed to advancing occupation-centered education and research. We prepare occupational therapists who advance participation, health, and human flourishing through engagement in everyday occupations. 
 
We seek a colleague who is excited by the work of building academic community, developing future professionals, and expanding the reach and impact of the Duke OTD division. Guided by a commitment to inclusive excellence, we value the exchange of diverse perspectives, experiences, and ways of knowing as essential to our education and research missions.

Situated within Duke University's Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, the division offers opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration while remaining grounded in the unique contributions of occupational therapy and occupational science.  

This position is a 12-month appointment starting July 1, 2027. Rank is commensurate with qualifications and experience.

• Knowledge of occupational science.
• An active scholarly agenda and a commitment to the long-term success and evolution of the Duke OTD program, its students, and its broader community.

Requirements

Required Qualifications: 

• Completed doctoral degree (e.g. Ph.D., Ed.D., post-professional OTD, Sc.D.)
• Prior teaching experience in higher education
• Eligible for occupational therapy licensure in North Carolina Additional Qualifications of Interest
• An education-focused program of scholarship or demonstrated interest in the scholarship of teaching and learning.
• Experience with curriculum design, assessment, or program evaluation.
• Expertise in areas currently underrepresented within the division, such as neurorehabilitation, musculoskeletal practice, orthopedics, practice with older adults, or other emerging areas.
• Experience teaching body function and structure content from an occupation-centered perspective.
• Experience building interdisciplinary partnerships within academic, healthcare, or community settings.
