The Department of Psychology at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign invites applications for a full-time tenure-track Assistant Professor position with expertise in or a strong potential for leveraging high-field 7-Tesla human magnetic resonance imaging with specific emphasis in cognitive neuroscience. Successful candidates are expected to establish and maintain an active and independent research program, teach effectively at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, and provide service to the department, the university, and the profession. Expert technical assistance/knowledge for 7T imaging is available on site via dedicated teams of the Biomedical Imaging Center and the Carle Illinois Advanced Imaging Center.
A PhD in Psychology or related disciplines is required by mid-June for a preferred start date of August 16, 2027. Candidates should show evidence of research productivity, teaching and mentorship effectiveness, and potential for external funding. Experience with magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is required, and expertise or a clear potential to use high-field imaging is preferred.
The target start date is August 16, 2027, but is negotiable. The budgeted salary range for the position is $95,000 to $104,000 at the Assistant Professor level for a 9-month service basis (paid over 12 months). The pay offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors including (but not limited to) the experience and qualifications of the selected candidate including equivalent years in rank, training, and field or discipline; internal equity; and external market pay for comparable jobs. It is not typical for a beginning Assistant Professor to be offered a salary at or near the top of the full range for the position. This position will be expected to work at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign campus on a full-time basis per the University’s Workplace Flexibility policy. This position is eligible for sponsorship for work authorization.
