| Job Summary | The Department of Philosophy in the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Kentucky invites applications for a tenure-eligible Assistant Professor position with a specialization in Hegel and Phenomenology. This is a 9-month appointment in the regular title series with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2026. We seek a candidate whose research engages the intersection of 19th-century German philosophy and contemporary continental philosophy, with particular interest in approaches that connect Hegelian thought to ongoing questions in phenomenology, temporality, and dialectical method. The successful candidate will demonstrate a well-developed research program with strong potential for continued scholarly productivity. They will teach two courses per semester at both the undergraduate and graduate levels; contribute to graduate advising; and participate in departmental and university service. The ideal candidate will provide evidence of effective teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels. In addition to a primary research focus in Hegel and Phenomenology, we especially welcome candidates whose work engages areas such as Feminist Philosophy and/or Applied Ethics. The successful candidate will have opportunities to develop courses in their areas of expertise and to contribute to the department's existing curriculum, including undergraduate courses in fields such as Existentialism, Food Ethics, and the Individual and Society as well as graduate offerings in Phenomenology and 19th-Century Philosophy. A Ph.D. in Philosophy is required at the time of appointment.
