Description
The University of West Alabama (UWA) invites qualified applicants to apply for the tenure-track faculty position for the Computer Engineering Technology degree program in the Division of Engineering Technology (ET).
- Teach a regular on-campus load of 4 courses per semester in the Division of Engineering Technology.
- Fulfill other faculty responsibilities, including student advisement, student recruitment, student retention, scholarly research, grant writing, creative projects, research, and participation in University and community service.
- Serve on College and University committees, as needed.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the Chairperson or Dean.
- Willingness to collaborate and thrive in a team-oriented academic environment.
Qualifications
Required:
- Ph.D. in Computer Engineering Technology, Computer Science Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, or a closely related field from accredited programs.
- Demonstrated experience in teaching courses in Microprocessors, Programming, Operating systems, Network Maintenance, Network Administration, Cyber Security, Database management, IoT, Project Management, Occupational Safety, Electrical Circuits (AC/DC), Solid State Electronics, Programmable Logic Controls (PLC’s), etc
- Commitment to excellence in teaching and student learning.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Skills required for collaborative curricular decision-making and advising students.
- Ability to work effectively with students, faculty, staff, and administration.
- Ability and willingness to work with students pursuing degrees in the Division of Engineering Technology.
- Evidence of relevant professional/industry experience.
Desired:
- Terminal Degree in a closely related field from an accredited institution(ABDs will be considered)
- Demonstrated effectiveness in applying technology and hands-on learning to teaching.
- Evidence of scholarly activity or research.
- Minimum of three years of successful teaching and advising experience in higher education.
- Minimum of three or more years of professional field experience in the discipline.
