The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Medicine at theUniversity of Illinois College of Medicine Peoria seeks a child and adolescentpsychiatrist with strong interest in graduate medical education to expandservices and strengthen educational training for general psychiatry residentsand medical students. Opportunity and resources to develop and lead a new childand adolescent psychiatry (CAP) fellowship program are also available. This isa full-time faculty position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor.
Our department has worked closely with community partners toprepare for the development of a new CAP training program. The broad array ofresources, exceptional facilities, and collaborative commitment from thecommunity provide an ideal opportunity for a motivated psychiatrist to lead andgrow the program. The success of our other educational programs and theexperience of the current faculty offer ample support to the incoming CAP facultymember. Candidates should share our values for high-quality patient care, theeducation of fellows, residents, and medical students, and the promotion ofscholarly activity. The ideal candidate will have meaningful administrativeexperience, excellent teaching and communication skills, and be eager to lead.Competitive salary and benefits are commensurate with rank.
The responsibilities of the position include development ofthe fellowship, oversight of the program curriculum and operations, promoting aculture of excellence, recruitment, evaluation, teaching, and scholarly support.Other duties will be tailored to the interest of the applicant and includeopportunities in adult and child inpatient and outpatient clinical care,community outreach, college student mental health, scholarship, and classroomteaching. Minimum requirements include graduation from anACGME-approved child and adolescent psychiatry fellowship, licensed orlicense-eligible in the state of Illinois, and ABPN board-certification inadult and child and adolescent psychiatry.

Position Summary
The faculty member will work with the Department Chair to develop outpatient and community-based clinical services for children, adolescents and their families within the UICOMP system. The faculty member will provide guidance and oversight to an emerging enterprise to facilitate the mission of the department for clinical care, education, scholarship, and outreach. The faculty member will develop a child and adolescent psychiatry fellowship, spearheading collaboration with community partners.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Direct patient care & expansion of child and adolescent psychiatric services
- Supervision and teaching of general psychiatry residents and medical students
- Function as a University faculty member, performing such duties as are appropriate to academic rank and position
- Future development of an ACGME-accredited child and adolescent psychiatry fellowship, administration of the program, accountable for operations, teaching, scholarly activity, recruitment and selection, faculty development, orientation, evaluation, and promotion
- MD or DO graduate of an LCME/AACOM-accredited medical school
- Graduate of an ACGME-approved child and adolescent psychiatry fellowship
- Licensed or license-eligible in the state of Illinois
- ABPN board-certified in adult and child and adolescent psychiatry
- Experience in inpatient and outpatient psychiatry
- Experience in administration of educational programs
