Description
The Department of Clinical Sciences at the Mississippi State University College of Veterinary Medicine (MSU CVM) is seeking applicants to fill a full-time, 12-month/year appointment with the Animal Emergency and Referral Center (AERC) located in Flowood, MS. Depending on qualifications and experience, the candidate may be appointed to a non-tenure track position as a Clinical instructor or a non-tenure track Assistant/Associate Clinical Professor as an Emergency Veterinarian.
AERC is a collaborative emergency and referral hospital committed to delivering high-quality, compassionate care to our patients and clients. Our team strives to provide evidence-based medicine in a supportive environment that values teamwork, mentorship, and continued growth.
Our hospital is a new, modern facility that is equipped to manage a wide spectrum of emergency and critical cases. We currently have 6 full time emergency doctors and several part time ER doctors. Our doctors are supported by skilled and experienced veterinary technicians and assistants who are integral in our patient care and efficiency.
Our facility’s diagnostic equipment includes digital x-ray equipment, ultrasound, CT, endoscope (flexible GI scope), complete Idexx lab suite, and blood gas analyzer (iSTAT). We have two soft tissue operating rooms (as well as two orthopedic operating rooms), cautery units, Ligasure, steam autoclaves, gas sterilizer, and anesthetic ventilator. Our hospital also features oxygen cages and an isolation ward. We utilize an electronic medical record system, and doctors also have access to ScribbleVet (an AI assisted scribe to improve medical record efficiency).
Our hospital prioritizes a collaborative, team-oriented culture, clear communication, and mutual respect between doctors and staff. We also value ongoing professional development and continuing education. Our goal is to continue to build a team of dedicated emergency veterinarians who are passionate about teaching veterinary students, performing procedures, critical thinking, and providing exceptional care for patients.
In addition to the emergency service, our hospital also has an orthopedic surgery service and a rehabilitation service with doctors boarded in their specialties. Being a part of MSU CVM, we also regularly collaborate with specialists in internal medicine, neurology, oncology, dermatology, ophthalmology, and radiology.
