Program Director, Assistant or Associate Professor of Social Work for MSW program - Des Moines, Iowa
Full-Time Tenure Track position
DUTIES:
The selected candidate will serve as an in-person faculty member of the MSW program and program director on an 8-month contract with an additional 25% administrative responsibilities across the summer months. The standard teaching load is 12 credits each fall and spring semester, with 50% of that being reassigned time for the administrative responsibilities of the Program Director role. Courses taught will be a combination of face-to-face and blended/online formats carried out in day and evening schedules. Summer teaching may be expected. The candidate will participate in activities serving the department and university, such as student advising, curricular revisions, and assessment. The candidate will also be expected to engage in scholarship endeavors and participate in activities serving the university and community.

Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Candidates must have a master’s degree in social work (MSW) from a CSWE-accredited program and an earned doctorate in social work or related field by fall 2026.
- Candidates must be able to teach courses across the social work curriculum at both the MSW and BSW level, although principal assignment will be to the master’s program. Must be willing to teach in face-to-face and online/blended platforms, during the day and evening, and if necessary, interdisciplinary courses.
- Candidates must demonstrate the ability to provide leadership through teaching, scholarship, curriculum development, administrative experience, and/or other academic and professional activities in social work commensurate with rank and the role of program director.
- Candidates are expected to demonstrate ongoing professional development as teachers, scholars, and practitioners through activities that support the program’s missions and goals.
- Candidates must also demonstrate a commitment to advising and student engagement to support academic success.
- The candidate must have proven ability to work with colleagues and students from diverse backgrounds and identities in an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community.
DESIRED/PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Preference will be given to candidates with at least two years post-master's social work degree practice experience; teaching at the graduate level; and familiarity with face-to-face and blended/online platforms. Interest in teaching clinical and research courses a plus.
